Redefining the estate agent
North London independent estate agents Hotblack Desiato appointed TheTin to create a new and innovative website would break category conventions yet be compliant with the Jupix platform, an Internet based management system designed specifically to support independent estate agents.
TheTin delivered a fast and easy to use site that has been designed to simplify and improve the property search experience. Features and functionality are central factors that determine competitive advantage and TheTin have developed mashups that are more intuitive and sophisticated than applications offered by competitors.
Although maps are common tools on estate agent sites, TheTin have improved on their functionality by using a customised integrated Google Map window that includes a range of overlays that eliminate much of the uncertainty about choosing the best locations. Not only can clients choose from the standard search filters (type of housing, number of bedrooms and area preferences), they can also use a slider to set an exact budget and select and see the location of local amenities, such as nurseries, primary and secondary schools, supermarkets, gyms, swimming pools and cinemas, as a series of easily identifiable icons. Designed by specialist icon designer Alex Booth, Designbooth, the icons provide instantly recognisable visual reference points on the map and work across platforms.
Cruise the world from your armchair
Building on the success of the virtual tour of P&O’s new superliner the Ventura, TheTin approached P&O with a suggestion to enhance and enrich the cruise selection experience by enabling customers to view and select port excursions through a bespoke Google Earth™ layer.
The resulting application has revolutionised the cruise selection experience – today a customer can ‘see’ one of three world cruise routes by adding the P&O World Voyage layer to the Google Earth’s software that maps high-resolution satellite imagery and aerial photography onto a 3D globe. Together with port information, an audio presentation and pictures this functionality has made the selection process a truly engaging voyage of discovery before even leaving Southampton! Feedback has been so overwhelming that P&O are now looking to roll this out across all 71 cruises.
