When rock star legend and pop artist Ronnie Wood needed a new website, TheTin were only too happy to help. The website www.ronniewood.com has been designed as an intimate reflection of the man, his music and his art.

“An ideal client in more ways then one”, explains Jamie Simmonds, co-founder and managing director of TheTin, “Ron Wood and his family were open and enthusiastic about the possibilities of today’s web technology and keen to invest time and energy into making the site an ‘‘up close and personal’ experience, combining images, music, footage and art from a long and intense career as musician, songwriter, producer and artist”.

TheTin was able to advise on ways to make it more of a personal statement than a promotional tool. “Our aim was to capture as much information as possible about Ronnie’s long career,” says co-founder and creative director Tim Harper, “whilst presenting the information in a clear and accessible fashion, unlike many online discographies.”

ronniewood.comThe homepage and main navigation introduces the public to an eclectic collection of objects and memorabilia from his career as musician, but also reflects aspects and talents that have not always been displayed on stage.

The site is split into five main areas, Biography, Music, Art, Blog, Ronnie’s ‘Caravan’, and it also includes book extracts from ‘Ronnie – The Autobiography’, published by Pan Macmillan.

In addition to biographical information, the site charts Wood’s extensive music career, from 1964 to the present day, the site launches with 140 albums and 67 singles, over 1000 tracks and links to album reviews. An accomplished artist who trained at the Ealing college of art, Wood’s love of painting is also a key feature of the site and includes over a hundred pieces of his favourite art. A blog section contains news about upcoming events, gigs and appearances.

ronniewood.com Key to the site is the exclusive content that is featured in the ‘Caravan’ section.

The Caravan is where fans can register for access to Ronnie’s personal tour and gig footage, unreleased music, exclusive prints and screensavers, memorabilia auctions and fan contributions. It is also designed as the cutting edge element of the site that integrates exclusive HD video with 3D animations.

ronniewood.comAn affectionate reference to Wood’s family history as ‘Water Gypsies’ the Romany caravan as seen on the site was created from exclusive footage of Ronnie’s own caravan, shot by TheTin on HD. The ‘Caravan’ environment is produced by combining 3D rendered backgrounds, created by 3D partner, Three Blind Mice, with live action footage of Ron playing the guitar and interacting with objects and compiled by TheTin’s Flash department headed up by David Robinson.

With so much content to draw from, the site will be growing for a long time to come. Phase 2 is still under discussion but it will include an interactive timeline covering sixty years of Ronnie Wood’ which will cross reference album releases, performances, tours and events. Other content under discussion includes podcasts and sample tracks.
