Waterford Wedgwood – elegant and timeless

waterfordwedgwood.comLuxury lifestyle group Waterford Wedgwood unveiled its redeveloped portal in November 2006. With brand design by Marshall Overy and site creation by TheTin, the website provides a showcase for all the group’s major brands: Waterford Crystal, Wedgwood, Rosenthal, Royal Doulton, Spring and W-C Designs.

But more than that, "the portal", in the words of Marni Shapiro, group communications, Waterford Wedgwood "will help us build closer relationships with our consumers and shareholders around the world".

Over recent years the Waterford Wedgwood brands have sought collaborations with high-profile fashion names including Versace, Julien Macdonald, Vera Wang, Zandra Rhodes, Jasper Conran, Marc Jacobs and John Rocha to develop contemporary ranges of crystal, ceramics and homewares appealing to a more design-aware audience.

Waterford Wedgwood wanted a site that would reflect its new direction yet respect its heritage, that would showcase the Group's luxury brands and celebrate its connections with eminent designers around the world and that would attract and appeal to both its traditional and younger customers. It also required an up-to-date Investor Relations area where analysts, potential investors and existing shareholders could get the latest news announcements via a feed from the London Stock Exchange, check on the company share price and download company reports.

TheTin understood the business case and responded with a powerful information management tool that fulfills the varied needs of the consumer marketing department, from updating images and copy, and meets all corporate information requirements, including e-mail alerts to inform users of forthcoming financial calendar dates and live news feeds of share prices in the Investor Relations section.

From its rich heritage to contemporary luxury collections the creation of the portal was an ambitious project that combined marketing objectives and corporate needs within a functionally intuitive yet visually sophisticated interface.

Jamie Simmonds, co-founder and managing director of TheTin continues, "we have worked with Waterford Wedgwood since 2001 maintaining their web presence, so have developed a deep understanding of all the brands within the group. The new website is inspired by the elegance and timelessness that they’re associated with; it’s subtle, tasteful and modern in terms of both aesthetics and practicality."
